“Things That Taste Like Purple” finally published in Kartika Review

A big thanks to Paul Lai and the other editors of Kartika Review who rescued “Things That Taste Like Purple” — my poem about baijiu, first submitted in 2013 — from the slush pile. It appears in full in the current issue. Totally worth the wait.

I’ve also appended a Chinese (self-)translation of the poem on this very site.

Of course, there’s never a bad time to re-link to this video by the brilliant illustrator (and good friend) Amy Sands, who used audio from my September 11, 2013 performance of this piece during Literary Death Match, Beijing.
